Mitsui Chemicals Europe GmbH is the European subsidiary of the Mitsui Chemicals Group, which is a global chemical manufacturer and supplier of value added specialty chemicals, plastics and materials for the mobility, healthcare, packaging, agricultural, construction, semiconductor and electronics market.
Current composite developments from Mitsui Chemicals focus on unidirectional reinforced thermoplastic tapes based on carbon fibers and polypropylene (TAFNEX™ CF-PP UD) with specially developed fiber bonding technology. This material combination shows on the one hand high stiffness and strength values at low density due to the carbon fiber properties, on the other hand very good water resistance and excellent processability due to the use of polypropylene as matrix material.
At DroneX 2025, a full-scale drone demonstrator will be presented, showcasing the various possibilities for drone components (blades, cover, frame, arms, legs) using TAFNEX™ material and ready for large-scale scalability options.
