Solent Transport
Solent Transport is changing the way the people and goods travel in the Solent area; making the area greener, healthier and economically stronger than it’s ever been before. Through the delivery of innovative transport solutions, we provide leadership, strategy and direction to support sustainable economic growth. 

Working as a partnership of local councils, and in collaboration with the local community, business, government and transport operators, Solent Transport undertakes research; develops transport policy and strategy; submits and supports funding bids; and lobbies for transport improvements that will benefit everyone.  

The Solent Future Transport Zone
Solent Transport were awarded £28.8m from the Department for Transport (DfT) to deliver a suite of innovative sustainable transport trials. These range from developing a local transport super-app for planning and paying for sustainable journeys to e-scooter and e-bike hire schemes, to new approaches to freight distribution and medical deliveries. 

Alongside our research partners at the University of Southampton and the University of Portsmouth, the Solent Drones for Medical Logistics project is researching how drones could be used to make medical logistics in the Solent area more efficient for the NHS; aiming to improve health outcomes and the quality of residents’ lives.
