Head of Futures and Innovation, National Police Air Service

David Walters is the Head of Futures and Innovation at the Nationals Police Air Service, where he leads the integration of Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) uncrewed aircraft systems and emerging technologies into police aviation.

Since 2022, David has been at the forefront of capability development, strategic planning and innovation, helping shape the future of air support for UK policing,

With over a decade of experience in solving regulatory challenges with technology to enable Beyond Visual Line of Site at scale and a background in aerospace consultancy, David brings deep expertise in drone systems and airspace regulation. He is an active contributor to several UK Civil Aviation Authority working groups, including Electronic Conspicuity and Unmanned Stakeholder forums, and is a member of the Drone Industry Action Group.

David's work is focused on delivering safe, sustainable and forward-thinking solutions that enhance operational effectiveness and support policing across England and Wales.
