About Graham Brown and Gordon Baker

Graham Brown
Graham is CEO of the Association of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems UK (ARPAS-UK) which is the UK Drone Association and is the recognised not for profit Trade Association that represents the Drone Industry in the UK. He is co-chair of the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) C-UAV Advisory Group, a member of the UK Airspace Strategy Board, a member of the Drone Industry
Action Group and a member of a number of other organisations and working groups aimed at developing the opportunities and ensuring proportional legislation and regulation for the integration of airspace for all users and accelerating the safe adoption of drones in industry. Prior to ARPAS Graham served as a director, CEO & Chairman of a wide range of international
and British businesses in the technology, manufacturing, services, e-retail and financial services sectors including an FCA regulated company and member of the London Stock Exchange. His breadth of experience includes businesses operating in the UK, Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific markets.

ARPAS-UK
ARPAS-UK promotes best practice for safe operation in the drone community and the industry at large and works with various groups to help promote the use of drones to deliver safe operations, grow opportunities within the sector, shape policy, legislation, regulation and standards, and develop skills to meet the future market demand. The result enables UK industry to be more productive and to deliver results safer, faster, and cheaper. There is also a focus on standards, accreditation, and education to meet the needs of the end user organisations that
use drones or will use drones in the future. ARPAS-UK is open to working with any organisation to further these goals. In order to achieve these goals ARPAS-UK has developed relationships with key stakeholders in Government to provide inputs on regulation, legislation, and protect members interests and create opportunities for the sector. The relationships include the CAA, DfT, BEIS, the Drone Industry Action Group, The Police NPCC, Connected Places and Satellite Catapults, All Party Parliamentary Groups (APPG’s) and NATS to name a few. ARPAS-UK has also developed good working relationships with other groups including RAeS, Tech UK, BALPA, BBGA, AOPA, GAAC, BMFA, Safer Drones and others in the aviation and industry communities.

Gordon Baker
Robotics and Autonomous Systems Lead,

Gordon is robotics policy lead for BEIS, supporting development and adoption of new robotics solutions, including drones, across the UK economy. Government convenes a Robotics Growth Partnership to develop wider Robotics Strategy and has for some years worked with Iain Gray to convene the Drone Industry Action Group. Gordon joined the DTI in 2004 and has held a number of roles including in: clean energy; SME and social enterprise policy; and science technology and
business growth (including the joint BEIS/ Cabinet Office Challenger Business programme supporting technology-led innovators). Prior to joining government Gordon worked in investment banking and consultancy for a decade. Gordon has an Economics degree from Cambridge University.
