Open call to showcase of UK’s first vertiport
Aerospace innovators SLiNK-TECH will showcase cutting-edge technology to industry counterparts, healthcare and government leaders at the UK’s first operational vertiport next month, at the prestigious Snowdonia Aerospace Centre(SAC) in Llanbedr.
The PORTAL Party will take place at the ex-RAF site overlooked by Mount Snowdon on the 10th and 11th July, and feature demonstrations of the company’s automated drone infrastructure.
The event celebrates the company’s first sale of its state-of-the-art PORTAL system, to Snowdonia Aerospace Centre, earlier this year. It is the first vertiport of its kind in the UK and marks a significant milestone for the UK drone industry.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with SAC to bring this innovative new system to the UK,” said John Goudie, CEO of SLiNK-TECH. “Our PORTAL vertiport system is a game-changer for the future of flight, and we are confident that our installation at SAC will provide significant benefits to testing of future use cases.”
The instalment and upcoming demonstration of the PORTAL system highlights SAC’s commitment to encouraging innovation and supporting technological advancement in the UK. As a leading test site for next-generation aerospace and future flight systems, SAC will use this acquisition to stay at the forefront of drone technology and training developments.
PORTAL is an advanced landing solution, which is highly automated and provides integrated flight management at any location. It features advanced sensor technology and uses this to dynamically guide drones within its airspace to land safely, without the need for a pilot.
The system can be deployed temporarily or as a permanent installation and is drone agnostic- demonstrating a clear focus on flexible adaptation and scalability for the consumer.
By reducing the operational costs of running drone-based logistics at scale, PORTAL’s creators hope that the technology will lower the barrier to entry for organisations hoping to prepare for the future flight economy.
For example, since April, SLiNK-TECH and SAC have been working in partnership with the Welsh Ambulance Service Trust (WAST) and Welsh Blood Service (WBS) to consider ways in which NHS Wales' supply chain could be improved with automated drone infrastructure. The second PORTAL Party date, 11th July, is a closed event celebrating this collaboration and demonstrating PORTAL’s capability to Welsh healthcare delegates and government representatives.
This initiative is a result of the UKRI Future Flight Challenge (in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Care), which has commissioned SLiNK-TECH to develop a concept for a drone-based service to transfer blood products.
Those interested in learning more about the technology are welcomed to join industry experts and policymakers on 10th July and can learn more about the event and sign up toattend here. [link: bit.ly/PORTALPARTY10]
