About Dave Curtis

Dave has worked across NATS for over 30 years and took over the Executive role of Safety and Sustainability Director in April 2022. In this role he is accountable for the NATS Safety and Sustainability strategy, policies, process framework and assurance. Dave is accountable for work on safely integrating new users into UK airspace, and is actively involved in the industry evolution of Air Traffic Management (ATM) through his roles in the CANSO Safety Standing Committee and UK Future Flight Industry Group.

Previously, Dave worked for several years as Director Airspace and Future Systems, developing and implementing major airspace restructuring and the introduction of safety critical advanced ATM tools into the operation.

He gained direct safety management experience as Head of Safety at the Swanwick Centre in a period that included managing traffic during the Icelandic volcanic disruption and the London 2012 Olympics. He also has more than 15 years direct operational ATM experience having worked in his early career as an Air Traffic Controller.
